New Hampshire Professional Certified Florist Program

NHSFA will be making available to its' members, a "Certified Florist Program".

What Is The Professional Certified Florist Program?
The New Hampshire State Florists Association is creating an exciting certification program for retail florists called the New Hampshire Professional Certified Florist (NHPCF for short).

This educational program will be adopted from two highly respected similar programs, published by Texas and Michigan State Florists' Associations, and is respected throughout the industry. Close to 20 other State Floral Associations have now implemented this type of program for their members with great success.
The Professional Certified Florist Program is one of the most complete educational programs in the floral industry.

The program is geared toward all employees, at all levels of experience. It is designed to benefit everyone from sales clerks to shop owners. When florists participate in the PCF Program, they will acquire new information and ideas that will refresh their enthusiasm for the industry, keep them progressive florists, and build their confidence. In addition, the program provides a standard of professional excellence which is recognized throughout the industry.

Chapters covered will include
Care & Handling of Cut Flowers
Flower Names & Identification
Care of Foliage & Flowering Plants
Customer Relations & Sales
Work Ethics
Delivery
Effective Visual Displays
Basic Principles of Design

Why should you be certified?

Set Yourself Apart.
The NHSFA will market the Certified Florist as a "respected" and "knowledgeable" florist. When you become certified, customers will recognize your knowledge and professionalism, and prefer you over a "non-certified" florist.

Create Better Work
Part of the certification process involves education of core retail floral knowledge. Regardless of your experience, there's always something to learn. When you're certified your work will show it, and your customers will know it!

Get Better Employees or Jobs
Any good florist wants to become better. The NHCFP program helps you do just that. If you're a manager or owner, that means you can quickly identify those prospective employees with standardized skill levels. If you're an employee, that means you become more valuable to your employer.

The time involved in a program of this caliber will take up to a year for a person to complete. There will be approved florists administrating the classes and the testing. Class locations will depend on enrollment. There is a possibility of approved applicants participating in a home-study situation; then tested by administrators. The text and literature are written by respected industry experts; total costs for classes, texts, and testings could range from $300 - $500 dollars. Some shops may opt to pay or to help pay for their students, with certain contracts or restrictions; some may ask the student to pay out-of pocket, with the possibility of reimbursement upon successful completion and employee requirements.
